Cakes!

I know that I always blog about the bad days at work, and how I hate the dumb people that Baskin seems to attract, so I thought I would add a blog about some of the things that I like about it. I love the days when people notice what a great job that I do. I appreciate it when customers come in, and they actually have been to a few of the other stores too, and they comment on how clean our store is, how consistant the products are and how good our customer service is. I love the days when everyone tips me, so I bring home nearly twenty bucks. I keep a jar in my room full of my tip money and it really adds up.

Justin, my boss, recently just won an award for my store. We are the store with the second most sales increase in Utah. Justin's dad even plotted out my progress in cakes sales over the last year. Whenever he sees me, he always tells me what a great job I am doing, and that if I ever need anything to let them know. "We'll take care of you." is what he likes to say. I love feeling appreciated.

Most of all, I LOVE decorating the cakes. As Xena would say, "It gets my creative juices flowing." I had an order for a cake today. They wanted a fullsheet mint chocolate chip on chocolate, frosted chocolate with green and purple flowers. This is what that cake ended up looking like:

Then just for fun, I made this cake:

Most days, I really do love my job.

Sweet baby

I just had to share this with everyone. Isn't he so cute!!!

Safe and Sound

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
After our scare yesterday when Isaac's hands and feet got all swollen up like a balloon, and Danae and Gary had to have several doctors look at him, they said that he is fine. I am glad that you are alright baby Isaac. Our family wouldn't be the same without you now that you are here.

Love,

Your Aunt Chelsee

Audio letter from Kennedy

Yesterday I got the tape I sent to Kennedy back. He filled up the entire first side. It was really nice to hear his voice, and I laughed so hard, especially since his companion proposed to me for sending them licorice and making them "Fat Dog" Brownies! Kennedy also responded to almost everyone that I got to talk on it. It was really nice! Now I want another one!! :)

Found

Most of you know that our new little kitty, Spitz, went missing about a week after we got her. Well, Little Momma found her on the side of the road this morning. She is really sad about it.

Momma, please don't feel bad. I know that you wanted to take good care of her, but you had no control over her running away. You weren't the one that let her out, and she had gone outside for a couple of days before she went missing. So, it wasn't that she just couldn't find her way back home.

I love you Mom!! I know you did your best and you are so sweet! You have such a compassionate heart to hear about a kitty in need and add them to the kitties at our house. You can't save them all, but that has never stopped you from trying.

Sweet Babies!

It was fun going for a walk with the family today and just spending time together! That was nice to just have a day to relax and spend together. Thanks everyone!! I love you all! (even those of you that couldn't be there!)

New Kitty

Mom knows the story better than me, but I guess that Sonja was up in Wyoming, and they were rafting on a river, when they see this little kitty on the other side. Sonja wanted to go get it, but Tim said that if the cat was desperate enough, it would come to them. Well, sure enough, this little kitty jumped into the river and swam to them. However, Sonja and Tyler are allergic to cats, so where is this little kitty living? That's right. The Hanna House!

Rain Rain Go Away

It has been really rainy lately. That is bad news for the ice cream business. I worked from 9 to 3 today. (I was supposed to leave at 4, but it was so slow I got to leave early.) In that 6 hour time frame, I put away the ice cream order, put away the paper order, finished all of the cakes and three back ups, did partials and tubs, did the paperwork and went to the bank. I know that a lot of that only Kjersti can relate to, but know that it is a lot of work. Oh, and I helped the few costumers that wanted ice cream, making a total of $71 before I left the store. Wow... slow boring day for me. My boss paid me more to be at the store today then he was making.

Recurring Dream

Well, it isn't the exact same dream, but I have had a dream before where I was working at the Bountiful Baskin, and a guy comes in and takes the place hostage. The workers, the customers, everyone. He makes us pick one person to be released unharmed, and one person that dies for sure. Then the rest of us have to stay there to either be killed or released later. That was my dream from before. Last night I had the same kind of dream, except it had happened to me before. So, right before he starts making his demands about who dies and who is set free, I go in the cake corner and hide and call the police. He notices that I am missing while I am calling for help. All I get out is, "Bountiful Baskin, hurry, help." And then I woke up.

My Mistake

Even though I had said I was done with some of my friends, I was told by a couple of different people to give Wendy a little more time. I would text her on various different occasions to see how her and the baby were doing. I was always careful not to ask about Chad, so that she wouldn't think that I was only actually interested in him. Well today, I text her to see how she was doing. The last conversation we had, she had told me that Crystal would just cry and cry for no reason, so I was just interested to see if things had gotten better. She said she was fine. I asked how she was. "Fine" was all she wrote. So I asked her, "Am I bothering you when I ask how you are doing?" She responded with" Honestly it bugs me. I'm still trying to adjust to being a mom, not just a wife, and my little family keeps being interrupted..." So that's it. I am done now. I just wanted to smack her. How rude can you be? How do people think it is okay to talk to your friends like that? I sure as hell wouldn't and I am done dealing with it from her.

Back to Normal

I got a letter from Will today!! He even sent me a picture, but what I loved most about it, was that everything seems to be back to normal. Nothing preachy, nothing about church related things at all. The whole thing was just inside jokes between us, wondering how I was doing, telling me a little about his new area etc... I loved it! He even explained why Torrie got a letter last week and I didn't. And get this, he has a Baskin Robbins in his new district!! Maybe I should transfer! j/k :)

Top Websites!

I think that all of you know that I made missionary websites for my friends on dearelder.com. While dearelder.com was having some difficulties, it was looking like the websites that I made had been deleted. I searched on their actual websites for them then, instead of going directly to them. On dearelder, the webpages that I made for Will and Kennedy have been placed on their list of the top 96 webpages! That made me really happy. Both Will and Kennedy check those websites weekly, and a lot of my friends have gotten on them to comment too. So, I guess I must be doing something right!

(If anyone would like to check them, just ask me for the web addresses.)

Because she is so DARN cute!!

The Wavering Co-Star

"Harry Potter" might lose one of its stars. The fifth film in the series, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," is currently filming at Leavesden Studios north of London. Negotiations to lock in Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) for the final two films are in the preliminary stages, and while the boys are likely to commit, Watson, 16, is unsure. "I don't know yet," she told NEWSWEEK near the set of 12 Grimmauld Place, secret headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix. "Every film is such a huge production, and it's a long time." Saying yes would mean she'd be playing the studious Hermione until she's 20. Watson scored near-perfect grades on her national exams. College must be on her mind, not to mention a career, and she's not sure acting is in the cards. "Daniel and Rupert seem so sure," she says, and looks sincerely plagued that she isn't. "I love to perform, but there are so many things I love doing." Pause. "Maybe that sounds ungrateful. I've been given such an amazing opportunity, but I'll just have to go with the flow."

I GIVE UP!

For the last couple of weeks, or longer for some, I have been giving some of my friends the benefit of a doubt, and putting up with more than almost any normal friend would. That grace period is now over. I am done with it. I am sick of dealing with being walked on. If you want my friendship, earn it. I will be here if you ever decide that I was a good friend and miss me, but I am done trying to be there for you when you don't even appreciate the effort of what I do.

Brad Pitt = Mission Impossible?

I heard today on the radio, that since Paramount Pictures realeased Tom Cruise from his contract with them, but the Mission Impossible movies are too big to just drop, they have now signed on Brad Pitt to do the new Mission Impossibles, making him the highest paid actor. I love Brad Pitt, but when I think of Ethan Hawke, I see Tom Cruise. Kind of like 007, I see Peirce Brosnan, not Daniel Craig. Oh well. I guess they didn't ask me.

And, I think mainly Allie will be interested in this, but here is the latest Orlando Bloom movie. And guess what! It ISN'T a period piece!

Stalker

Okay, I think I have become a little bit of a stalker. That, or the internet has made connection with people A LOT easier. My first example is that Shakespearean actor that I liked down in Ceder City. I came home and, while looking for pictures, found his blog. Second example, I went bowling last night. There was a guy that I liked, but was too shy to say anything. I came home and looked him up on MySpace and found him!! He hasn't been on since December, so... oh well. Then, while checking the blog for the Shakespearean actor, he said something about MySpace, so I just found him too! I know, I know. Stalker, right?

Venting

I blame the fact that I have been in customer service for so long, but I have learned how to put on a face to make everyone think that I am happy when really I am not. I am in one of those place right now, where I just feel like everything is going wrong. Instead of people trying to fix it, I would like people just to be able to acknowledge that I am not perfect and I have my down days.

I miss my friends. I miss my missionaries, and I miss my friends that are scattered everywhere now that we are no longer in high school. I even miss the friends that are still here, but never have time for me. I get frustrated because I feel like I care more about them then they do about me. I try so hard, and when I don't hear from people, I feel alone.

I am sick of feeling like people judge me for everything that I do. I hate that I feel like I need to watch what I say, what I wear, what I listen to, what I watch. It is enough to drive someone insane! I wish that people could just accept me for who I am. And if they don't like something, or if I don't do something that they would do, I wish that they could just be okay with me being me. Say, "we don't agree on everything, but we don't have to."

I am sick of being the person that has to take care of everything at work. I have learned how to multi-task that, in general, I can get everything that I need to done, but when I can't, I wish that there was someone there to say, "you did a great job and I will handle the rest" not leave it there for me to do the next day.

I wish that I knew how to accept change. I am afraid of the unknown, and once I fall into a certain pattern, it scares me when a change is forced on me, and there is nowhere else to go but forward.

I am scared of the noises that my car is making. I wish I knew how to fix it, or that I knew at least what was wrong with it, even though I don't have the money to fix it anyway. I try so hard to take care of my car, that I am really frustrated that things aren't working the way that they are supposed to.

I feel like I have so much to live up to with my family. I run into people that haven't seen us for a while, so they run down the list: "writing for a newspaper, the doctor, the paralegal, the MA". I feel the judgement and the disappointment when they get to me and I can't even afford to go back to college yet. They look down at the job I have now as a dead end job, and I have nowhere to go from there.

This mood will pass, but I just wanted to be honest with everyone, especially myself, about what it is I am feeling right now. So, here is a piece of me that I am sharing with you. Thank you for listening.

Where were you?

Where were you five years ago today? How did you hear about what happened? I was in Jr. High, and I heard about it from one of my friends at school. I think it was Heather Casper. She told me that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. When she first told me, I didn't really think anything of it. I had never heard of the WTC and I didn't understand that it was a terrorist attack. I thought that she had just meant that it was an accident. When I got to my first period, my teacher had gotten a T.V. so that we could watch the live reports coming in. That is when it hit me. Eventually my principal came on the intercom and said that the school day needed to go back to normal, but any student that needed to call home or needed to leave could come down to the office. After school, me and my friend Wendy watched the news for the rest of the day. We couldn't believe what had happened. I still can't.

More dumb "lawsuits" at BR

Last night, some lady got a double scoop and a small shake. As the lady was paying, a cop came in, and was waiting to order behind her. She had handed us her credit card, and then without even waiting for it to print out, went out the door. Janelle chased after her to make her come back in a sign it and give her back her card. As the lady is signing for it, the cop mouths to Janelle to check for I.D, so she asked for it. The lady says that she left her I.D. in the car and goes out to get it. As Janelle is getting the cops order, he realizes that the lady never came back in and sees her take off in her car. He gets into his car, turns on his lights and pulls her over a block away. The lady didn't have ANY I.D. on her what-so-ever.

About an hour later, the lady's brother comes in and shows Janelle I.D. that matched the card and says that his sister is going to sue the police department and us. The cop had to come back in and get everyone's statements that the lady was acting suspicious, etc... I was telling Janelle that it is a stupid idea to try and sue the police department. All that is going to happen, is that the cop will say that in order to drive, you HAVE TO have your license and that is a form of I.D. so she should have had it if she was driving. But, the lady is saying that the cop had no reason to pull her over, that he didn't turn his lights on and that he nearly caused an accident trying to pull her over. I don't think I will hear anything else about this "lawsuit", but it is further proof to me that ice cream = stupidity.

Driving Lessons

I took Geoffrey down to the driver's range at Bountiful High and let him drive my car tonight. I know that Gary tried earlier, but I thought it would help Geoff learn with my car since it is an automatic. I taught him some of the basics, such as which one was the brake, windshield wipers, and turn signals... and even though we turned left on a right turn signal, things generally went okay. He is nervous to learn, and feels bad when he almost gives me whiplash, but I explained to Geoffrey that even though we pay the Driver's Ed teachers to teach you how to drive, they already expect you to know how. He is driving with his teacher on Monday, so we will see how that goes for him. Hopefully tonight helped so that he knows some of the basics.

As a side note, we decided to leave when some dumb high school idiot decided to be speeding around the parking lot and doing donuts. I wanted to call the cops on him especially when the kid stopped the car, got out and peed in the nearby bushes. Dumb high school kids. I am so glad that I am out of high school!!

I Bleed Purple?

In my continuing struggle to go back to school, I have decided that a change of schools might be in order. I am currently trying to save up the money to go back, but Natalie said that she would help me apply to Weber State to see if I could get in up there and make my tuition payment a little easier and maybe even get a scholarship. I pulled a 3.7 out of my semester at the U of U, and that was while I was working two jobs and taking 17 credit hours. I would miss having my school just right up the street from where I work, and of course the great teachers like Mark Matheson, but I do feel like I need to get back into school. I miss constantly learning new things and the challenges that school provided. I also think that school would help me meet new people and keep me busy so I don't feel like I am just waiting for my friends to come back home.

Possessed by the devil: Hitler, Stalin... and Potter

Pope Benedict XVI's senior exorcist claims the Harry Potter books contain innumerable positive references to magic, "the satanic art."

"Behind Harry Potter hides the signature of the king of the darkness, the devil," he told Vatican Radio. And according to the Daily Mail newspaper in London, he added that the books attempt to make a false distinction between black and white magic, when in fact, the distinction "does not exist, because magic is always a turn to the devil."

All I have to say is... he's an exorcist - what did you expect him to say?

World on Fire

I am sure that you all know that President Bush was here this week. Having to be out in the same area though, I felt like everything was crazy. Driving anywhere was insane, and I swear that every cop in Utah was downtown this week. I have never seen so many police escorted cars before. Bush also stayed at the Grand America Hotel, which I have to pass as I go to the bank each morning. They blocked off half of the street for the cop cars to have somewhere to park, and then there were cops about every five feet. And not just one, but two or three. It was insane. It took me an extra half hour just to get up the street Thursday morning. Traffic was already bad the days before with everyone trying to get to the Delta Center, etc... but it got worse.

The most interesting thing for me to witness, though, were all of the people. Since I had to work, I don't really know how any of these rallies went, but I got to see all of the people coming and going up and down the street. Everyone was carrying an American flag, but most had protest signs as well. They said things like" Bush you have Blood on your hands" and "Anyone for a new president." It was crazy. I am sure that you all know a lot more about what was going on then I do, but there is my two cents.

Update

I had a fairly interesting day today. The first thing that I wanted to point out, was that dumb carpool lane that I got pulled over in, isn't even there anymore! I guess everyone else figured that it was dumb too, but now both of those lanes are metered so they both have to stop.

Next thing, I was almost in a car accident on the freeway today. There was a truck three cars in front of me, and something fell of the back of it. I am not sure what they were, but they looked like a bunch of thin, metal bars. The two cars in front of me slammed on their brakes so hard that you could see the smoke coming from them. I managed to stop before I hit the car in front of me, and the car behind me didn't hit me either. I was shaking the whole rest of the way home though.

I also got to hang out with Natalie for the first time since her dad's funeral today. We had a lot of fun. She also bought me a really cute shirt as my late birthday present. I also got a letter from Will again today. He is trying to be better about writing me. He apologized for the religious talk in his last letter. He said he realized that it would have made me uncomfortable and he said that he wasn't trying to do that. I really appreciated him saying so, but what I find even more interesting is that he wouldn't have gotten my letter telling him my reaction yet. He just knows me well enough to know that I didn't like it.

And of course, we have to have the baby picture update! Here is more pictures of that cute, cute girl!

Ice Cream = Stupidity

I have decided that ice cream makes people dumb! Every morning, I go in about three hours before we open to do the paperwork, go to the bank, start cakes, etc... The last couple of days, I have noticed how many people try to come to the store before we open. With all the lights off, all the chairs up and the OPEN sign not on, people still try and come in. They get up to the door and are completely shocked that it won't open. Since we have two doors, they then proceed to check the other door to see if maybe that one is open. Never mind that there is a sign that has our hours on it on the first door, they walk passed all of the tables with the chairs still up to get to the other door to find it locked as well. At this point, most people get the idea that we are closed and get back into their cars. However, some people that still don't get the hint, bang on the door until I come and unlock it to talk to them. Then they ask me, "Hey, are you guys open?" If I have to unlock the door, does it look like I am open?

Then, throughout the day, I just get dumb customers. I had one lady come in and say, "I want a single in a cup." I said, "Okay, what kind of ice cream?" She then got irritated with me and said, "A SINGLE." Last time I checked, a single was a quantity not an ice cream, but I must be wrong. Or I get the occasional customer that is extrememly pissed off that I can't put a lid on their cone. I got a different customer today that asked if we had different kinds of ice cream. I had to keep from laughing. I wanted to say, "Nope. We just have 46 tubs of the same one." I also had a lady come in today wanting to taste the ice cream that had 31 flavors in it. She thought that we had found a way to combine them all into one! So, ice cream = stupidity. I just want to say, "Here's your sign."

Funeral

Nat's dad's funeral was today. I am really glad that I went. After being able to spend some time with Nat, I know that she is going to be okay. Obviously, she is still really hurt over the whole thing, but she is trying really hard to focus more on the fact that he is with her mom again than that she is without him. She also has a huge family, and they were all there to support her. They all love her. Even the family she was staying with in California came. They were disappointed that she has decided to move back up here again. They really wanted her to stay there with them. She is going to be living with Josh's parents and going to Weber, starting Monday. I feel like she is slowly putting her life back together. She was even laughing at the luncheon afterwards and making plans with me for when we could next watch Alias.

Letter from Will

I got a letter from Will today. This might sound dumb, but it made me cry. It was as preachy as the e-mails that he sends home. He said that he didn't mean it to be and he apologized if it made me feel that way, but it still was. In his e-mails home, he talked about the people he was teaching and kept saying things like, "they refuse to understand the simplicity of the gospel" or "they refused to open their eyes to see the Truth". I have been a little offended by things like that that he says, so I asked him if he saw me like that. He wrote back saying that he never had seen me like that, but since I asked, I was like that though. He told me not to be offended because he wasn't trying to make it seem like he thought he was better than me, or anything like that. He says that God loves everyone the same. Even though he wasn't trying to be offensive, I am offended. More than that though, it makes me really feel that I made up this whole thing between me and Will, and even if I didn't, it can never work. He says that we don't have to agree on everything to be friends, but what makes me sad, is that now I know that is all we can ever be.

Arachnophobia

I know, I know I am such a baby. There is a HUGE spider that has taken up residency outside the front door. Mom thinks that he is a cat spider, or something. He is the biggest spider that I have ever seen besides a trianchula. I decided to name him Charlotte. And, as I was driving out to go see a movie, I see a spider running across my windshield, but it was inside! I freaked out. I managed to get to the theater anyway, but as I was driving home, he dropped down from my rear-view mirror! It scared me so bad! I was screaming. I came home and woke Geoffrey up to come and get it out of my car, and he couldn't find it! A different morning, a spider had been outside of my front window. I didn't know he was there until I was turning onto the freeway. He managed to stay on there until I got up to 70 mph. Even though I HATE spiders, I couldn't help but think that it was a valiant effort.

Natalie

What do you say when you best friend calls you, crying her eyes out, because her dad just died? Natalie has been living in California for the summer, so she hasn't even seen her dad recently, but she was supposed to be coming home in three days. He died of a heart attack. He was driving when it happened, so he pulled over and the police are the ones that found him dead in his car. How terrible is that? And to make matters worse, Natalie's mom is already dead too. She died when she was 2 years old. Now Nat might stay in California to be with the rest of her family. I just wish that there was something I could do to help her through this.

MySpace

So everyone can get off of my back about giving in and making a MySpace, cause Allie did it too! As dangerous as MySpace can be, I think it can be used safely if you aren't dumb about it and it is a great way to keep in contact with your friends. It makes me feel better too knowing that Amanda was looking for me and couln't find me, so there!
