Update

Sorry again for the lack of blogging. Here is what I have been up to though: First of all, I am still working five days a week and trying to get settled into my new apartment. I am starting to feel like it is home, even though I still haven't finished unpacking. A big part of this is just that I don't have as much shelf space as I did in my room, so mainly the things that are still left in boxes are just the ones that I don't have room for yet. I have really enjoyed listening to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix that I borrowed from mom while unpacking boxes. It makes it so I work on it longer and enjoy myself while I am at it.

Second, now that I finished the second season of LOST with Kjersti, Jay and Geoffrey, I have been trying to make up on spending some time with my friends. My friend Tasha's birthday was on the 28th, so Sarah and I took her out. It was very interesting to me that they still more or less are exactly like they were when we were all in high school together. Sarah relentlessly hit on the waiter, and even left her number with the check. We went and saw the new Fantastic 4 movie, and bribed Geoffrey to come and take pictures of us all together.

One of my goals this year was to re-read all of the Harry Potter books before book seven came out. It has taken me a lot longer than I thought it would since I started back in January, but it looks like I will finish my goal. When I hadn't finished book 5 by July, I decided that I had to finish it before the movie came out. I have only read that one once, so reading it again now is almost like reading it for the first time again. I love them and I am having so much fun with it! I am going to be really sad when they are over. I got midnight tickets to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix! For some reason, the movie is coming out two days before it was supposed to! All the original posters, etc... say July 13th, but I am seeing it on the 11th. And guess what?!? Dad wanted to come! So, midnight Harry Potter with a group of friend from work and some of my other friends and Dad. It should be interesting, and I am actually curious to see if Dad actually comes and makes it all the way through the midnight showing since half the time we have family things he leaves early because he is too tired.

This week, I also went to go see a movie called Evening with my friend Torrie. I liked it so much, that I got mom and took her to see it too. I wanted to go with mom and all my sisters, so if any of you get the chance, go and see it because I think you will appreciate it.

I also hung out with Amber this week. We went and saw License to Wed, the new Mandy Moore movie. We had a good time. She also went shopping. I was actually really good! I didn't buy anything! I have been trying to watch my money since I am now paying for rent and don't know how much utilities will be. I also have to get Sassy re-registered this month. :( So, good birthday ideas for me are either money to help me pay for everything this month, or new things for my apartment. Either one would be greatly appreciated!

Another random thing that happened was that Grandma called dad and told him that she had been praying in temple, and that God told her to give me $500 for school! She then asked dad to match her check. So, last week, Mom, Geoffrey and I all drove down to Provo. I thought it was VERY nice of grandma to help me with school, I just feel bad that she is SO miserable and just hates life. And of course, she made the few jokes about how she had to pay me $500 to come down and see her. It was also the first time that I have seen dad's house. It is interesting and reminds me of a maze with the narrow halls and sudden random turns.

You can also see Mom and Kjersti's blogs about the 4th of July. I took pictures and will post some later after I get the film developed. So, there is the very long explanation of what I have been up to for the last week or so.

First Look

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while. I have been busy moving into my new apartment and working. It also doesn't help that I don't have a computer in my new apartment so I can only use it when I come home, etc... Anyways, here are the pictures I took of my apartment before I moved anything into it.

Here is the Front Room:

The Dining Room:

The Kitchen:

The Bathroom:

And my Deck:

I took a picture of my bedroom, but it didn't turn out. I really like my new apartment. I love hoe many windows it has so during the day it is really well lit. I also have A LOT of space. It doesn't quite feel like home yet, but I am sure that will come when I get more settled in. Thanks to everyone who helped me move! I had more help than I knew what to do with, so it made the whole transition fairly easy. Thanks again and see you around!

Blind Date

On Wednesday I went on a date with a guy named Patrick. I had never met him before, but a friend of mine set us up and told me that he was a nice guy worth getting to know. Wednesday was my day off this week, so I told him that I could go out then. He came and got me and took me to Lagoon. We had fun, even though he liked to make fun of how scared I got on some of the rides. I haven't been there in years, so most of the rides we rode I had never been on before. I had already been on the White roller coaster, Rattle Snake Rapids and Collasus, but this was the first time that I went on the Spider, Cliffhanger, the Rocket, Wicked, and Wild Mouse. (Or something like that.) After being there for over 4 hours, I could tell that I was really burning, so I told him that we either needed to go get sunscreen or be done for the day. He said it was okay if we left, even though he said he had originally been planning that we would be there until 9 or so. (He came and got me at noon.) We then went out to Zeponnies and got some pizza. For the most part, aside from getting really sunburned, I had a good time. He is a nice guy, but I think I like him just as a friend. I miss hanging out with my other guy friends, and that is what he mostly reminded me of.

Emergency Transfer

I just got an e-mail from Will this week saying that he had to be emergency transfered because one of his investigators "fell in love with him." He is actually really embarrassed about it. Her name was Luciana. I guess Will already knew something about this before this all happened because he mentioned that his mission president had told him to make sure contact with her was minimal and to make sure he was ALWAYS with his companion. They even passed her over to the sister missionaries. However, she sent Will a series of text messages, and no I don't know why he has a cell phone over there yet, confessing her love for him. He said that she wrote about "how I was the man of her life and that she was waiting for me to finish my mission. She even went so far to say that wherever God took me, that is where He would take her." So he sent all the texts to his mission president who decided to get him out of there. Will found out that he was moving on Monday, left Tuesday and was in his new place by Wednesday. He is as far south from Lisbon as the mission president could get him so that he isn't ANYWHERE near this girl anymore. Will also wrote that for the record, he didn't have any feelings for that girl at all. I find the whole thing really funny. I'm sure that he doesn't, but this gave me a good laugh for a while.

How To Lose A Girl In 10 Days...

So, on Monday, I was asked out by a guy named Mike. I knew him from when I worked at the theater. He would always give me free tickets when I came in with the promise of free ice cream. Last Saturday I went to see a movie with mom, and I gave him my number so that we could cordinate the free tickets/ice cream better. It was completley innocent on my part because I thought that he was still dating his girlfriend of the last two and a half years. Anyways, so Monday he asked me out, and I was really excited since I haven't been on a date in a long time. I even made plans with Sarah to go shopping on Thursday to get a new outfit.

However, Monday he REALLY wanted me to come and see him at work, so he got me and my friend into see a free movie. During his break he came in and sat with us. Hwe kept being really playful in an attempt to get my hand. That is when I started feeling a little uncomfortable. Then, he called me that night when he got off work. (Around 1 am) and then again when he first woke up the next morning! He kept calling and texting me wanting to make plans for every day this week.

On Thursday, after I had gone shopping with Sarah, he sent me a text asking me how work was. I told him that I had the day off and he then wanted to know why I wasn't hanging out with him. Several times that day he kept sending me texts saying, "What are you doing now?" "What are you doing?" "What are you doing?" And I HATE it when people feel like they constantly need to be checking up on me.

One of his phone calls on Thursday was to ask me if it was okay if we went to the drive-in theater. I originally told him that I didn't care, even though I did, but I sent him a text later telling him that I would be more comfortable going to a real theater. He then called me later to ask me if I would like to go to the new Century in Union Hights and if I had ever been there before. I said that I had been there once when it first opened. He said that he had been working there when it first opened and asked me why I hadn't said hi to him. I said that I hadn't seen him and that he probably hadn't been there. He said, "You were there. I saw you." So I said, "No you didn't. If you had seen me there then you wouldn't have asked me if I had ever been there before. You're just trying to make me feel bad." And he said, "I wasn't trying, it just comes naturally."

By Friday morning, I was DREADING my date. I REALLY didn't want to go. So I sent him a text telling him that I was uncomfortable that he had asked me to go to the drive-in since I assoicate that with guys wanting action. He said that he hadn't even thought of that and asked me if I still wanted to go. I made it clear to him that I didn't want any action. He agreed, so I decided it was okay that I went.

The date started fine. He came and picked me up at Baskin and took me to Litza's Pizza. After that we went minature golfing. I had fun. He was gloating in the car before we got there that he was going to kick my trash, and then I totally KILLED him! We then went to the movie. We got there early so we played some arcade games for a while. When we went into the movie. He kept playing around until he got my hand. I was a little uncomfortable, but I let him do it because I didn't want to make him feel bad. When the movie started, he put his arm around me and kind of pulled me closer to him. I probably should have said it bothered me, but I didn't want to make him feel bad, and I figured that I never had to go out with him again if I didn't want to and it wasn't really hurting anything... And it was a good movie, so I stopped thinking about it after a while. I could tell that he kept getting bored though since he kept trying to tickle me and steal my drink. After the movie, he drove me back to my car and then LOCKED HIS KEYS I HIS CAR! He told me to go home and get some sleep though since I had to be to work early the next morning. He then called me around midnight to let me know that the lock smith was on his way.

Today he called me three times. He keeps sending me texts saying that we should do it again. I told him that if we did hang out again I would need to do it after Father's Day because I am going to be busy with work. Later that day he said "How about Tuesday." And again I said, "After Father's Day." Then he text me again saying that we needed to make a plan to do it again.

HE IS DRIVING ME INSANE! He just seems so needy and when I made a comment about him calling and texting me all the time, he said "I thought we were friend so I thought it was okay." Which made me feel bad. I know you are all going to tell me to just tell him to take a hike, but I don't like being rude, so it isn't as easy as it sounds. And, we were friends before. He makes a goood friend. I just don't think that I like him as anything more than that.

Ada's Last Day

Today was Ada's last day. She has worked with me for a long time, but she got a better job offer for the summer, and she wasn't planning on coming back after it. She says it is time to get a "real job." She was a great worker though, and we had fun. She is also the one that made it possible for me to take a few days off even without another cake decorator in the store by learning how to do the paperwork, putting the orders away, and defrosting. I am going to miss her!

5 Things You Might Not Know About Me

Since all of my sisters did this, I thought I should maybe do it too.

1. I can't STAND to have any sort of writing on me. Even if it was just an accidental pen mark on my skin, it DRIVES ME NUTS! This also extends to the colorful dyes I use at work, lipstick, and fingernail polish. I can only get my nails painted if they are clear. I don't know why. I just can't stand it.

2. I can't eat anything that I think is old. I ALWAYS check to see if there is mold growing on my bread or cheese, and I always check when the milk expires. Even if my leftovers still look appetizing, I won't eat them if I think they might have been sitting there too long.

3. After I take a shower, I fill up the bath tub and lay in the hot water. If there is ever a day when I am in a hurry, I have the HARDEST time not doing this. I started it to help ease the tension in my back, and laying there also pops my back on its own. It also helps me if I have a sore throat.

4. I have a movie addiction. I know that you guys kind of know that, but buying movies helps me feel better when I am in a bad mood even if I don't watch any of the ones that I bought. I also have a hard time not buying a movie that I really wanted to see, but hated it once I saw it. Even though I HATED Alexander and I thought Eragon blew, I still have to remind myself not to buy them when I see them in the store. There are a lot of movies that I had to buy the day that they came out, and I haven't watched them since I saw them in theaters.

5. I make lists of everything that I have to do while I am at work and cross it off as I go so that I can feel like I have gotten something done during the day. If I do something that wasn't on my list, I add it on and cross it off so that I can have the visual reinforcement.

I've Still Got It

Today was my day off from work. So, I called the IRS to get them to send me a new tax return since I lost my first one. It took me nearly an hour, with four different phone calls, but I finally got a lady to say that she would send me the form to fill out to get a new check.

After that, I went out to Farmington to get my Food Handler's Permit renewed since my old was has been expired for about a year now. Jay was nice enough to take me out to Farmington and while he ran some other errands, I studied for the test. I missed four questions, but I didn't really care what temperature a hamburger needed to be cooked to anyways. ;)

Then I headed out to the Redwood Road Campus of SLCC to take my placement tests so I can start getting registered for Fall Semester. I took both the English and the Math placement tests. Even though I have been out of school for about two years, I still placed into the highest English and Math classes that I need for my major. I still read at a college level. I tested highest in Sentence Skills. (That's because my mom taught me that a preposition is the worst thing you can end a sentence with.) Then second in my Reading Comprehension. My Elementary Algebra is still there. My college level math was a little rusty, but I still qualified to just take the one highest math class and then be done with it since it doesn't add to my major. I decided today that I wanted to major in Photography. Officially it is called an Applied Science Degree in Visual Arts and Design with a Photography Emphasis, but that's okay with me. I talked with my Academic Advisor about getting my credits transfered from my AP classes and my semester at the U of U. He also gave me the list of classes that I need to take in order to graduate. So, today was the first serious step that I have taken about getting back into school, and I am proud of myself for doing it. :)

Midnight Pirates

Thursday night, I went the midnight showing of Pirates 3: At World's End. I LOVED IT! Even though it was a three hour movie, it kept my attention the entire way through and I didn't even realize how late it was. I loved the new soundtrack and as always, I loved the cast. We went to see it at Megaplex 12 and we got reserved seating, so we didn't have to wait in line! Everyone just all met there around 11:30, grabbed seats and treats, and watched our movie. We all had a good time, even though some of the girls I went with didn't understand it, and one fell asleep. Originally, it was just going to be Amber with her boyfriend Tyson, and Tasha with her boyfriend Nathan and me. So, in order to not feel like a 5th wheel, I invited my entire store and some more of my friends. 23 people went in all. I spent $184 on tickets, but luckily, everyone paid me back! And with how picture crazy I get, I have no idea why I didn't get a single picture with Geoffrey in it...

And then there are days...

I know this is ironic since I just wrote about how much I love my job... but today was the first time since I have been at my store that I seriously considered quitting my job. (Quitting meaning giving notice until I could get another one.)

There were just a lot of little things that set me off today. The first thing that put me in a bad mood was one of my co-workers. She pulled something in her back, so she can't lift things, or do the ice cream, etc... She had mentioned that people in her family were calling her gimpy. so, I had jokingly called her that a couple of times, and she was smiling and laughing about it. I turned back to to my cake and WHAM! She whipped me with a wet towel! It hurt so bad! I know that she was just playing around, BUT IT MADE ME SO MAD! She was shocked that it had actually hurt me. (Apparently she has tried this with other people and not been able to make it hurt, so she told me that I was the unlucky person that it happened to happen to.) Normally Jess and I get along just fine, but this put me in a bad mood. She apologized right away once she saw that I wasn't playing anymore.

The second thing was that since Jess couldn't do ice cream, I had to start it so that Nicole could finish it when she came in at noon. That was fine, and even after she got there I helped get the rest of the partials in so that all she had to do was tubs. And there were two of them to help customers. Now, even though it was a Saturday, we are normally slow Memorial Day weekend since most people are out of town. So, the two girls liked to stand around and talk. While doing cakes, I constantly had to stop in order to make sure that they would still work. And even though Nicole got out the tubs we needed, I ended up having to help put them in since she left them out for so long that they were all melting!

Third, we have been having trouble with a girl named Heidi at my store. (She used to work at Bountiful and then came out to my store since we needed more workers.) After Sarah got there, Nicole was telling her about some of the issues, and I wanted to hear too. But Sarah got mad. She said that we shouldn't gossip about other people. She said that it wasn't something that I needed to worry about and the only people that needed to know were her and Justin. And that really got to me. I put so much effort into this store that I really feel like I help run it, and for Sarah to tell me that it had nothing to do with me really offended me. I see her point, and I know that she is right, but at the same time, it really mad me feel inconsequential.

I sent Justin a text telling him what happened and he could tell that I was upset so he called and talked to me. He said that I was a big part of how that store was run and of course he needed me. He said that I am the best cake decorator out of any of his stores. I said thanks, but I don't believe you, since I know almost all of the other decorators too. He said that he meant it. He said that my designs are really good and since I take such pride in them they are even better. He also said that I am really fast at it and still make them look good. He said when he first took over the store it was one of the lowest cake selling stores, and since I have been there it is normally the highest. He said he knows that it because of me. He also said that he doesn't think that Sarah meant to offend me. He said that he knows that she really respects me, and he wanted to know if we had any other issues that he needed to know about. He said that sometimes managers take their good workers for granted and he wanted to make sure that she wasn't doing that to me. He said hopefully I could just write today off as a bad day, and that tomorrow things would be better. He also thanked me for talking to him about it. He says he really wants to know when I have a problem.

The other problem that I have been having with working lately, is that I feel that the family gets mad at me when I am at work. I know that I work a lot, but I really feel like you guys get on my case about it. And that really stresses me out. Allie told me that she thought I had sold my soul to the store and that it was ruining my life. It completely shocked me since I do normally love my job and take a lot of pride in my work. Kjersti even gets mad at me when we go in there to stop working when I'm not on shift.

I do love cake decorating though, and I love how much money I make at the store. I feel like Justin respects me and I like that this job is flexible so that I can work and go to school at the same time. I like that I work all days so that I have the nights free. And, most of the time, I really like the people that I work with too.

I don't know though. I guess today was just a bad day...

I miss Natalie!

Today is Natalie's Birthday! However, Natalie went back to California for the summer about two days ago, so no partying for us. :(

Even though I know she doesn't read my blog, I wanted to say that Natalie is the coolest friend! We always have so much fun together! We tell each other everything and we have so much fun when we hang out together.

We never fight and we love the same things. We like to go eat together or go to movies, but we take turns paying so that neither one of us feels like we have to do it all of the time. It also makes it possible to do more, like if I have money and she doesn't or vis versa, then we can still go with the promise that the other will pay the next time, and it actually happens. :)

Natalie is still thinking about whether or not she would want to move out with me when she comes back. She wants to get married either Spring Break or next summer, so she didn't want to promise me that she could do it and then have to back out later.

Happy Birthday, my friend! I really miss you, but I hope you are enjoying the time in California with your family!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GARY!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GARY! I wanted you to know that I think that you are awesome and I love having you in our family! I love how happy you make my sister and you are an amazing father! Thank you for always being willing to help my family out. I know that I can always depend on you. Have a great birthday!

Because there are days...

I know that I complain about hard days at work a lot, but most days I REALLY do love my job.

This picture was taken right after we ROCKED out 31 cent scoop night. You try making over $250 in an hour when ice cream is only 31 cents! But with these people working with me, it all went really smoothly and several people commented that they could tell that we had done this before, when it was a first for all of us.

I have been REALLY busy with cake sales lately. Two weeks ago I sold 104 cakes in one week, and the week after that I sold 102. While doing that, I was also working on the back-up Mother's Day cakes. I sold 139 cakes this week, but I got CREAMED by the other stores since they are all more residential than I am. I worked my butt of though, so at least no one can say that it was because I didn't try.

This is Meghan, my other cake decorator. This was her last week though. :(

Both of these pictures were taking in out tiny cake corner where we make all those cakes and normally beat out the other stores with at least twice as much room as we have.

Even though I am still looking for a replacement cake decorator, I LOVE the other people that I work with too!

Sarah, the manager of the store, works almost as much as I do. She takes care of A LOT of things at the store and is usually either working on something for the store or being called with most of the problems that people have.

These people also help keep work fun and can help make a bad day into a good one. :)

We have a lot of fun. :)

And always hard workers...

... most of the time anyways... :)
