I just got an e-mail from Will this week saying that he had to be emergency transfered because one of his investigators "fell in love with him." He is actually really embarrassed about it. Her name was Luciana. I guess Will already knew something about this before this all happened because he mentioned that his mission president had told him to make sure contact with her was minimal and to make sure he was ALWAYS with his companion. They even passed her over to the sister missionaries. However, she sent Will a series of text messages, and no I don't know why he has a cell phone over there yet, confessing her love for him. He said that she wrote about "how I was the man of her life and that she was waiting for me to finish my mission. She even went so far to say that wherever God took me, that is where He would take her." So he sent all the texts to his mission president who decided to get him out of there. Will found out that he was moving on Monday, left Tuesday and was in his new place by Wednesday. He is as far south from Lisbon as the mission president could get him so that he isn't ANYWHERE near this girl anymore. Will also wrote that for the record, he didn't have any feelings for that girl at all. I find the whole thing really funny. I'm sure that he doesn't, but this gave me a good laugh for a while.

Gary had some similar experiences on his Mission. He used to carry my picture in his little white bible, and there was a little girl named Megan Mortimore who totally got grumpy anytime she saw my picture and she would ask Gary questions about me, like she was sizing up the competition. I think she was 10!
He also had another girl that called either on our wedding day or on our honeymoon or something... So funny! Poor Will... I know it's hard for them.
Will is so sweet and good-looking that it doesn't surprise me that random girls are falling in love with him. It happens all the time in the mission field, since members of the church look up to the missionaries so much. It is good they moved him immediately before it got any more out of hand.
