United 93

Okay, I have already talked to mom and Allie about this, but I just had to say that I am really REALLY upset by the upcoming movie about Flight 93. I was disturbed about the teaser trailer with just the plan flying and then turning around back toward the east coast, but now there is a full trailer for the movie, complete with images showing the two planes that hit the WTC. They waited 80 years to make a movie about Titanic, 60 years to make one about Pearl Harbor, but for some reason they think that 5 is enough to make one about 9/11. Just the trailer for this movie almost made me cry and mom did cry. It is in front of the movie Inside Man, so beware to anyone who is still extremely sensitive to this whole subject.

I DID cry when I saw the trailer. I think it's completely inappropriate. And yeah, they're pretending that it's a movie celebrating how brave these people are, but it's not. It's to get Bush's ratings back up. And what a lousy, pathetic way for him to do it.

The worst part of it, to me, is that the kids of the people on the plane are going to get to see IN A MOVIE THEATRE how their parents died. Yeah, they're made out as heroes, but if it were my parent I would still be upset. 9/11 is NOT for entertainment value.

I already hate Bush, but I think Universal studios are dumbasses as well for standing behind a project like this.

I've managed to miss seeing the teaser and trailer 3 times now (thanks to Chelsee's call to warn me that it was out). I cried just hearing there was a movie--I definately don't need to see the trailers, and I'll be goddamned if I see the movie.

Dad will say I'm being silly, but I really do think that this movie is coming out because Bush's numbers are low and he needs to remind us....what? That Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11?

I am so tired of the racism and the pointing of fingers to anyone Muslim. I'm tired of people using 9/11 to justify their fear and hatred of things they do not understand and are too lazy, self-important, or ignorant to try to learn about. This new movie has nothing to do with honoring the heroic passengers of Flight 93 and everything to do with getting people mad again (and mad at the wrong fucking people, at that).

Anyway...now that I'm all worked up...

Um.. I hope it's not the inflight movie for my vacation this summer. That would suck.

Haha! How tacky would that be? Have a movie about a plane getting hyjacked as the in-flight movie! They'll probably have to do it just to get people to watch the fucking thing!

Can we give the people that made this movie some of Kjersti's dumb-ass bumper stickers?

I hated it when the TV movie part came out. I refused to watch that, so I don't see how anyone could convince me to watch the movie. I don't have the political energy that everyone else seems to, I just want to say, can we be done?? Why relive something that was so terrible and awful? It does no good, and especially for the families of those who died, let them be at peace!
