"The Best Two Years"
I am really having a hard time with the fact that all of my friends are leaving in a short time. Will is leaving next week and it already seems like he is gone. He is never able to do anything because he has been packing his room up, and getting ready to leave. I am really going to miss him. He just laughed when I asked him if I could talk him out of it. His farewell is on Sunday and I have signed off work so that I can go. (No one die of shock... yes I am going to be going to church...) Jay leaves a few weeks after Will and then Kennedy leaves two weeks after that. Between all of my friends, though, I think that Kennedy is going to the best place. Jay is going to Mexico and Will is going to Portugal, but Kennedy gets to go to Norway.

Chelsee, look at it this way... while it's REALLY hard to say good-bye to your friends, a mission is a really great way for boys to become men. They get away from home, from parents, from all of their previous influences. They get to go out into the world, and for your friends this is literaly, and experience something other than the small-minded people that live in Bountiful. They grow up, the find out who they are, and being that far away from friends and family, they find out what is truly important to them. It worked for me and Gary. When he left I thought I'd never see him again, and as soon as he was away from me, he knew he never wanted to be away from me again. (Cheesy, I know.) I also had a friend who was a jerk to me in High School, and he wrote me a letter once while on his mission apologizing for everything he'd ever done to me. Missions are a great thing, for different reasons. Be happy for your friends that they get this opportunity. They will be back. And hey, there's always mail! That was the best part!!
I have gotten two letters from Will in the two weeks that he has been gone so far. He had to have sent the second one before he got the second one that I wrote to him because he wrote it the day after I sent it to him and it takes two days to send them. At the end of it he wrote, "Miss you lots," before he signed it. It made me really happy. :)
