Richard Avedon

This semester I did my famous photographer report on Richard Avedon. I thought his portraits were amazing! Mom even drew the one of the woman and the snake.

Rather than having to write about the history of the photographer, we instead had to write about their photographic style and what they have changed the idea of photography.

This report only would have been better if we had had to mimic the style of the photographer like I did in my last class. I don't know how or if I could have done half of these, but it would have been fun. Anyone want to volunteer to be the woman with the snake of the man with the bees? :)

Lost and FOUND!!

When Allie and Steve had me take pictures for them when they were up here, I took three rolls of film, but I lost the first one. I tore apart my house and my car looking for it, and it really made me made that I lost it. I had even bruised my hip taking one of the pictures on the lost roll. I was really frustrated. Since I talked to mom and Allie, and neither one of them had it, I decided that I must have dropped it somewhere at Memory Grove. Kjersti told me that most of the time, there is someone in the office at the reception center. Yesterday, I finally went back to see if by chance it was still there. I asked if anyone had turned in any lost film. She only had one turned in, and it was the same type and film speed as the one that I shot. She gave it to me, and I went and got it developed. And... IT WAS MINE!!! :)

Here are some picture off of that roll:

(This is the picture I bruised my hip taking. You cant tell from this, but there is a big metal railing that goes down these stairs, and I was so busy trying to take a good picture that I TOTALLY ran into it!!)

SLCC Anomaly

Walking around campus, I came across these two signs. Apparently, I am one of a very few that have ever noticed a problem.

Both signs say "Caution Ped Xing" but the sign on the right side of the street is printed backwards.

Most people in my class had never notice, including my teacher that has worked there for nearly nine years. (She walks passed it at least twice a day.) And no, the sign isn't transparent. It doesn't read correctly coming from the other direction. Strange, huh?

Just giving you a hard time

Okay, here is my little blurb about dumb people that I have to deal with in customer service. I HATE the people that say dumb things and are rude, and then say, "I'm just trying to give you a hard time." How is that supposed to make it better?!? What makes them think that it is okay to give me a hard time about dumb useless things? How is that funny? And does anyone want to guess how much of that I get in a day? Yeah, you aren't really being rude, and your just trying to have some fun while I make your crap, but so does the next person, and the next person, and the next person. If you want to make conversation, think of something better than joking about our sign that says, "We no longer accept checks." It isn't funny to ask if you can use a check. Really. Where do people get these dumb ideas? I would personally feel pretty dumb if I asked if I could use a check when there was a big sign that said "No checks". Duh. The answer is NO! And don't ask me the history of Baskin Robbins. I don't know, and I don't care. Don't assign it to me as "homework" to go look it up. If you want to know, go look it up yourself. Don't complain to me if we don't have your favorite flavor. There is nothing that I can do about it. We have 46 other flavors. I am sure there is a different one that you like too. And don't ask me why we have 46 flavors when we are called "31 Flavors." I didn't name the store and I don't know. All I do is make up an answer to get you to leave me alone. If you are short money, don't take the difference out of my tips. I shouldn't have to pay for your ice cream. And it's not funny when you try and pay with my tips either. No, you can't have a taste sample of every flavor. I have better things to do with my time. And if I give you one, you can't have another one of the same flavor. Buy a scoop if you want more. And no... we don't have lids for the cones!

Present for the Little Momma

Mom asked me to get these scanned in a LONG time ago. I finally have them! Better late than never, I guess...

And mom, here are those pictures I took of those lamps for you so that you might be able to draw them. :) Love you!

Criminal Nature

I am a nomad in a country of settlers

A drop of oil in a glass of water

A nopal that flowers where one can't and shouldn't flourish

A wound of history still bleeding

My crime has been being what I have been all my life

Thank You SLCC

I just wanted to say thank you to the people at SLCC for not stealing my $700 camera out of my car when I accidently forgot to lock one of my doors. (The door that you have to lock by hand because it doesn't respond to the automatic locks) I lock my car whenever I go anywhere, because I would rather be safe than sorry. But, after being in school from 8 to 5:30, my camera was still there. Thank you!

Photographying Light

In my photography class today, we had to use digital cameras to photograph different types of light. Meaning: sidelight, direct light, back light, and diffused light. She also wanted some abstract photographs of shadows.

I had the most fun with the shadows, but overall, I had a good time with this assignment. Even if it was digital. And even though we had to do it on campus.

I have also learned how to manipulate the way that water looks. The first way is to freeze it in action:

The other is to make it smooth and show the motion.
