Catching Up

I am sorry it has been so long since I blogged. I have been really busy with everything. Father's Day is the biggest cake holiday of the year, so I knew I would disappear for a while. I will try and catch up on some things that I have wanted to blog about for a while now.

First off, Kennedy finally came back home! So all of my closest friends that I have been writing to on their missions are all back now.

It has been really nice to have them all back again. I love being able to call them or hang out with them when I want to see them instead of just having to save whatever I have to say until the day of the week that I write them, and then hoping that they will have enough time on their P-Day to answer me.

Natalie got married on June 7th. I have never been the biggest fan of Josh, her new husband, but I had a great time at her wedding and reception. She was so beautiful and was just glowing with how happy she was, that it made me happy to see her so happy.

Thanks to Allison for helping me find a pink dress so last minute for Natalie's wedding. It was a pain in the butt, so I really appreciate all the effort you put into it, and for keeping me sane enough to go shopping for that long amount of time. I was really irritated with everything, so I don't think I would have found one without your help. And, thanks to Kjersti for letting me borrow her digital camera to take pictures of Kennedy at the airport, and the first half of Natalie's wedding. I took 5 rolls of film at the reception alone, so it was really nice to have the digital for the first half. (It only made it through the first half because I kept it so long that the battery died.) So thanks guys!

Some other new things that are going on with me are:

1- I got audited from my 2005 taxes. Apparently, I accidentally claimed myself when mom claimed me too on one of my forms, so I owe the IRS more money (since that was also the year that I had to pay taxes since Century wasn't taking any taxes out of my checks.) So, not only do I owe them more money, but they are also charging me a late fee for not paying them in 2006-2008.

2- My lease is up and I am going to have to sign a new one if I want to continue living there. If I sign the new lease, they will also be raising my rent. :(

3- I got my raise at work! :)

4- Father's Day sucked! I do love my job since I love making cakes, but Father's Day wasn't my day. I had to make 50+ back-ups cakes since it is the biggest cake holiday of the year. I also had to make sure that the case was pretty full because what is the point of making back-ups if the case is empty, right? So, Father's Day comes up and I have 12 orders. I went in early and got all 12 built and frosted, so that I only had to decorate them. Three of the orders were due right when we opened. I had two of the three done, but I ran out of time, so I had to open and wasn't quite done with the third order. Of course, that means that is the lady that showed up right on time. She yelled at me that her order wasn't done, and sat and waited in the store until I was done. (As a side note, I was supposed to have another person working with me as soon as we opened, but he called in to say he was going to be late. Plus, we were understaffed as it was because of the holiday.) So, I am trying to do my cake orders, while helping customers. Not fun. Anyways, my stupid co-worker doesn't show up until 11:30, which is exactly when my next order is due. That lady comes in and yells at me too because I don't have it ready yet. At this point, I am so stressed out because I am doing everything I can but everyone keeps yelling at me! I can't do my job and everyone else's too and have everything done perfectly. It just isn't possible, but you know that I try to anyways. So I start crying as I finish the 11:30 order. At this point, it is now 11:45 and I have 4 more orders due at noon. Karen (the woman I babysit for in the morning) comes in to see me. She sees how stressed I am and tells me that I have to call another store to get some help. I told her that it is still Father's Day at every other store too and they all sell WAY more cakes than I do since they are more residential than I am. Anyways, she finally left but she wasn't happy that she couldn't help me. So, I manage to get all of my noon orders done before the people showed up, except for one. At least least lady didn't yell at me as she waited for me to hurry and finish it. Later though, as I was trying to finish my 2:00 orders, I realize that I accidentally gave her the wrong cake by mistake. I called her and apologized and offered to trade her cakes since I still had the one that she originally ordered. She was so mad at me though that she hung up on me. And, there was still the problem of not having the 2:00 cake anymore. So, in 40 minutes, I built up another cake, frosted it and finished it right as the next woman came in for it. Go me! My boss called in this time frame too, and I just started crying. My co-worker isn't the best, he is still fairly new, likes to talk, and has already put in his two weeks, so he isn't that concerned with getting things done. My boss told me that I am not Superman and that he knew I was doing the best I could. He tried to calm me down. I manages to get through the rest of the day without anyone else yelling at me, but I still felt pretty shitty afterwards. We ended up selling more than $1,000 in cakes that day, and we sold 180 cakes that week. In case any of you are wondering, I am amazing! :) I also called dad and talked to him for a couple of minutes. So, that was my Father's Day.

5- I finally got another cake decorator that is going to be working at my store. Assuming that everything settles in right, that means that I probably won't have to be working 6 days a week anymore!! :) I am very excited!

6- Two of the other stores got robbed. The first one lost $280 to the guy, and then the next day he robbed another one and got $700+. The good news is that they caught the guy.

Anyways, this blog is getting to be WAY too long, but there is an update of what I have been up to, and why I haven't been able to really see any of you recently. Hopefully I should be having more time now. I can't wait to see Wesley and for the Cedar trip! I need a vacation! Love you all!

You sound just as busy as me! It's not all that fun to be that busy and I know just how you feel. You've got to just take it in stride and know that things will get better in the future and chalk it up to experience. Good luck!
