As many of you know, we recently have added Dante to the kitties that live at our house. He is so sweet and I am really hopeful that he and Mael will get along. They get really close and sometimes hiss, but in general they just sit close to each other. Mael has been getting along with him better than any of the other cats I have seen him with so far. However, Scout and Dante do not get along. Any time he even gets close to her she will try and claw his face. He just walks away from her, but she really doesn't like him. So, hopefully with Mael and Dante they will just decide that the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Dante also LOVES to go outside. He is a very clean, soft kitty, but when I let him go outside, he rolled in every leaf that he could find and got completely dirty. He loved it. :) So, the new kitty is settling in just fine so far.

I don't understand why Mael isn't with Danae, the three other cats aren't with Kjersti and Dante isn't with Allison.
Why are we dumping the animals on Mom, who is alergic to cats?
For the record:
Dante belongs to Chelsee now. I didn't dump him on Mom. When Chelsee moves out, I suspect she'll be taking Dante with her.
That said, I do see your point, Wes, about all the cats at Mom's house. I think it is extremely kind of mom to keep the kitties there that the kids haven't been able to take with them to apartments etc. I hope that they're not too much of a burden on her.
Wesley, my husband is allergic. Spending Easter Sunday at Mom's house worked him over big time. I would love to take my cat, but it's not an option. I also asked Chelsee to take care of Mael after I left, but if ever comes to the point where neither Mom nor Chelsee want my cat, I will be more than happy to find him a home. I have absolutely no intention of "dumping" my cat on someone else to take care of.
I think in the long run, something needs to be done. I agree that it's not Mom's job to take care of all the cats when the kids up and move. Mom or Chelsee, if you need me to find Mael a new home, just let me know and I'll do it.

Well, I think it's probably true that we dumped our cats on mom. The problem is that we wanted to move out before we had our baby, and this place doesn't allow cats. I don't think my 3 cats being with mom is anywhere near permanent, I just thought it would be nicer to leave her with the cats while I find out what else to do with them then staying there with them and adding a baby to the mix.
Just for the record, I don't mind the cats. And my allergies aren't as bad as they used to be. I don't want Danae or Kjersti or Allison to go on any guilt trips. We will have to find new homes for them all when I sell the house, whenever that happens.
