So, the back story on this one is that I was working with three other people on Friday night. We were really REALLY busy. In the middle of our rush, this guy comes in and says that he needs a receipt for a cake that he just bought about half an hour earlier. I was helping other people. I never even saw him, but one of the other girls remembered writing on his cake. He said that a guy wrong him up. So, the girl went all through the past transactions for the entire day and couldn't find his cake. I have a way of looking at the amount of everything that we sell as well, and his cake was not in there. So, I found the guy in question that should have wrung him up. He said that he wrung him up and that the guy paid cash. He promised he wrung it up and he has no idea why it wasn't in the register. So, I wrung it up again and we ended up being really short on cash the next morning. We were short about $120 total. Anyways, I told Justin the story and how it sounded to me like this kid was skimming sales. (Meaning that they are charging the customer for the items, but then not completing the sale and keeping the money the customer paid for themselves.) He agreed that it was exactly what that sounded like. I have been the substitute manager while Sarah has been on her vacation, so Justin told me that I had to put this kid on suspension. Most likely he is going to be fired, but Justin is going to talk to him.
Anyways, he had me get his shifts covered for the rest of the week and next week. Then he had me wait to have him come in to tell him that I had done that so that I could get the key back from him that he had used to close the other night. Anyways, the whole thing sucked. I felt really, really bad telling this kid that he was suspended. He didn't get angry. He just got really quiet and said that he didn't know what happened to the money, etc... He must be a good liar, because even though I can't think of any other solution for it, I believed that he had no idea what happened to the money. Also, if that happened to me, suspended or fired, I would be so upset. Especially if it was something that I didn't even do. So, I feel really bad about the whole thing.
This isn't the first thing that this kid and I have disagreed on. He doesn't respect me. He will lean against the counter and text while he is supposed to be working, or take realy long "bathroom" breaks to use his phone. One day he was an hour and a half late for his shift. Overall, he is a crappy worker, but while Sarah was gone, he was trying to do better and he really was improving. Todd says I am just too nice and need to stop worrying about it. He says that this kid created the situation himself and it had nothing to do with me. I still feel bad though.

It's true, the kid did create the situation himself. I don't think you should feel bad. In fact, I admire that you had the courage to tell him he was suspended! That must've been hard, but he shouldn't get away with stealing from the store and Justin.
That happened to me once while I was working for Warren in Bountiful, someone stole a TON of money from him. It was only me and Josh working, so I still don't know what happened to the money, but I've always felt bad that maybe he thinks it could've been me. Working with dishonest people sucks because then you have to PROVE your an honest person. So better to get this guy out of the situation before it gets worse.
Its the tough things that help us grow and learn more about ourselves and what we are capable of. If nothing else, your job sounds like it gives you many opportunities to grow and learn. haha You are an amazing person and don't let the everyday get you down. Love Nolana
Wow, that would be really hard, Chelsee. I don't think I could do it! I hope it all works out.
